Employee Spotlight: Mike Pistone

Employee Spotlight: Mike Pistone

Our people are at the heart of our business and we would like our customers to get to know our staff, so we are introducing an Employee Interview series on the blog. Let’s get to know the friendly faces of Partner Rentals beginning with our first employee that was here on Day One, Mike Pistone.

Partner Rentals (PR): What is your job at Partner Rentals and what do you do?

Mike Pistone (MP): I was the first employee of the company when we opened back in 2016, and I’ve held a number of positions since then, ranging from Sales Coordinator to Logistics Manager. I’ve worked the counter, in the shop, done deliveries, sales, service, the whole nine. I currently keep myself busy helping at the counter and assisting other departments and stores.

PR: How did you get into the equipment rental industry?

MP: I’ve always been interested in construction and construction equipment, and was looking for a more stable schedule than the industry I was previously working in. I was approached with the opportunity to help open the first store and haven’t looked back since.

PR: What’s the best advice you’ve ever heard?

MP: Figure it out.

PR: What’s the best advice you could give to someone just starting their career?

MP: Do the best you can and surround yourself with people you can count on. It’s important to cultivate an environment where you are supported in and out of work.

PR: What do you like to do outside of work?

MP: I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, cooking, playing drums, and making knives.

PR: Which accomplishment are you most proud of (work-related or not)?

MP: Maintaining my legendary status of first and favorite Partner Rentals employee.

PR: Tell me something about yourself that no one knows.

MP: I wish I could sing.

PR: What’s the weirdest fact you know?

MP: It would take 19 minutes to fall to the center of the earth.

PR: If you didn’t have to work, what would you do with your time?

MP: I dabble in carpentry and metalwork already as a hobbyist, and generally enjoy learning trade-related skills, so I would probably double down on that. I’ve always thought it would be fun to build a house, have a big garage and do car builds, etc. Building drums, furniture, and potentially do knifemaking at more of a fulltime capacity. Maybe open a food truck. The list goes on. I have lots of hobbies, and I’m not sure there would ever be enough time to do them all.

PR: What is your favorite piece of construction equipment?

MP: Ultra Booms. By no means am I comfortable with heights, but there’s something really exhilarating about being up 100+ feet in a lift.
